SAAC - PURPOSE/MISSION
The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) is an organization made up of
student-athletes to provide insight to the student-athlete experience. Members
may serve as a liaison between student-athletes and university administration
to provide input about different rules or regulations affecting their institution.
Beyond their respective institutions, SAAC also allows for student-athletes
to have a voice within the NCAA. In addition, SAAC works to promote a positive
image for all Student-Athletes. SAAC is a national organization with separate
committees for Division I, II, and III. There are also separate committees
based upon conferences. The Southern University Athletic Department is an
active member in the Southwestern Athletic Conference SAAC program.
"The mission of the National Collegiate Athletic Of course...Association Student-Athlete Advisory Committee is to enhance the total student-athlete experience by promoting opportunity, protecting student-athlete welfare, and fostering a positive student-athlete image."
