LADY JAGUARS GOLF LOSES TOURNAMENT

Gonzales, LA – The Southern University Lady Jaguars golf team lost for the first time since the 2002 Southwestern Athletic Conference championship. Southern came in second to the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff in the SWAC Presidential at Pelican Point Country Club.

Southern shot a 683 to finish the tournament with a score of +107 but Arkansas-Pine Bluff was able to shoot 6 strokes less than the Lady Jaguars as they ended the tournament with a 677 score for a +101.

Junior Josephine Aniley led SU by hitting a 163 for the tournament to finish at +19, while finishing tied fifth in the tournament. Finishing 7^th was senior Danielle Sells, who had a 165 for a +21. Freshman Kasarhi Franklin shot a 174 for a +30 and finish 8^th, while junior Nicole Joseph had a +37 with 181 strokes to finish 11^th in the tournament. Junior Brittany Bryant scored the lowest of all Lady Jaguars but still finish in the top 15 of the tournament. Standing at 13^th Bryant scored a +40 with 184 strokes.

The Blue and Gold women’s team will prepare for their next tournament as they travel to Huntsville, TX to play Sam Houston State University on March 6^th – 8^th. The men will be in action again on March 20^th – 22^nd as the Jaguars, along with the Lady Jaguars will meet Texas Southern University in Lake Charles, LA.
