BURNSIDE, LA - The Southern University Presidential golf tournament was halted today by the thunderstorms that moved into the area at 2:30 p.m.

Most of the competitors were unable to finish so a leader was not able to be determined. On tomorrow morning at 8:00 am their will be a shotgun start on the second and final day of competition. All competitors will tee off at the same time on two different courses. Pelican Point golf course is hosting the tournament and will use both courses on Tuesday, March 4th, to help determine a 2008 winner.

The teams that are participating in the event include:

Texas Southern University men's and women's team

Prairie View A&M University women's team

Arkansas-Pine Bluff men's and women's team

Mississippi Valley State University men's and women's team

Jackson State University men's and women's team

Alcorn State University men's and women's team

Alabama A&M University men's and women's team

Alabama State University men's and women's team

The event is free and open to the public.
