SU GOLF STARTS THE SEASON OFF RIGHT

Montgomery, AL - The Southern University men's golf team got the 2006-2007 golf season started off right with a two stroke win in the Alabama State University Fall Classic.

"The guys really played well during the second day of competition," said head coach Willie Williams. "Freshman Greg Scott did an exceptional job winning the co-medalist award."

The Las Vegas, Nevada native shot a 75 on the first day and a 73 on the second to earn his first collegiate award. The other competitors for the Blue and Gold finished as follows: Patrick Phillips 78-73-151, Brette Maynard 77-79-156, Dustin Thompson 82-79-161 and Suhail Vally 85-80-165.

The next tournament for the Jaguars is set for September, 27th - 29th, when they travel to Atlanta, GA for the Hall of Fame Golf Classic.
