The Southern Jaguars and Southeastern Lions will renew their
diamond rivalry, as the baseball series starts in Baton Rouge on Friday in a
6 p.m. contest at Southern's Lee-Hines Baseball Stadium, before the teams
face off in a 2 p.m. contest at Southeastern's Pat Kenelly Diamond at
Alumni Field. The final game of the series is scheduled for 1 p.m. in Baton
Rouge. Friday's game will be televised on Cox Sports Television
Southern (2-4) defeated Nicholls State, 8-5, on Tuesday to snap a three-game losing streak. The Jaguars opened the season losing two of three to Division II Southern Arkansas before dropping two of three to Nicholls State. Southeastern (4-3) returns to Baton Rouge for the second time this week after falling at No. 15 LSU, 7-3, on Tuesday at Alex Box Stadium. The schools met twice last season with each team posting a win. Southeastern won the opening game of the series, 12-2, at Alumni Field on March 29, 2005 before Southern rallied for a 7-6 win the following evening in a game played at Denham Springs' North Park.
