Junior shortstop Brandon Revis and freshman first baseman Calvin Anderson were lauded by the Southwestern Athletic Conference as the league announced its baseball honors Tuesday.

Revis made the All-SWAC first team, while Anderson was named the SWAC Freshman of the Year.

Texas Southern, which finished third in the Western Division behind SU and champion Prairie View, had two on the first team and five on the second team.

Last season, the Jaguars had three first-team selections, one second-team selection and Revis as the SWAC Defensive Player of the Year.

Anderson, who became a starter as the season wore on, hit .342 with 30 RBIs, 20 runs, eight doubles and four runs. He had six errors and a .959 fielding percentage, in 30 games, including 28 starts.

Jackson State shortstop, Joaquin Rodriguez was named the Southwestern Athletic Conference Baseball Player of the Year and Most Outstanding Hitter to lead the 2006 All-SWAC Baseball team.

The team, selected by the league's baseball coaches and sports information directors, also includes Prairie View A&M's Wrandal Taylor as Pitcher of the Year, Alcorn State's Bradley Roper-Hubbert as Newcomer of the Year.

On the first team, Prairie View A&M and Alcorn State had three players, each, selected, followed by Texas Southern and Jackson State with two apiece. Mississippi Valley State, Southern and Alabama State had one player each.

On the second team, Texas Southern place five players followed by Alcorn State (3), and Prairie View A&M (2) with multiple players. Jackson State, Alabama State and Ark.-Pine Bluff had one player each.
