The Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association (MLBPAA) is excited to announce the 2006 Bringing Back Baseball Gala on Thursday Nov. 16, 2006 at the Holiday Inn Select in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Highlighting the guest list at the Gala are big leaguers Lee Smith, Dave Stewart and Jimmy Wynn, and Southern's own, Rickie Weeks. Also added to the dinner are ex-LSU players, Ryan Theriot and Kirt Ainsworth, along with Joe Lawrence, Reid Brignac and Brian McCrae, among others. All proceeds will benefit the Bringing Back Baseball Initiative, Southern University Baseball and the MLBPAA.

The Bringing Back Baseball Initiative is focused on refreshing the interest of America's youth toward playing America's game - from the inner cities to the suburbs. A portion of the proceeds will allow the Alumni to conduct free youth clinics for children, initially in the Gulf Region and expanding outward in subsequent years.

The gala takes place from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. CT and will include a dinner program as well as a silent and live auction. Those interested in purchasing tickets should contact Southern University head baseball coach Roger Cador at 225-771-2513.
