STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) -Sean Sutton became the first basketball coach in Oklahoma State history to win his first five games as the Cowboys beat Southern 75-59 on Tuesday night in the second round of the South Padre Island Invitational.

Oklahoma State (5-0), playing its fifth straight home game and its fourth game in seven days, led Southern (0-3) from start to finish, as the Cowboys jumped to a 7-0 lead in the first 3:13.

Southern responded with an 11-6 run to pull within 13-11 when Joe Holliday hit a three-pointer with 13:18 on the clock. But Oklahoma State answered with a 12-0 run that was capped by freshman Obi Muonelo 's steal and layup.

The Cowboys led 40-25 at halftime.

The Jaguars opened the second half with an 11-4 run but came no closer than 44-36 with 16:28 left.

Oklahoma State forward Mario Boggan led all scorers with 21 points and added six rebounds. Guard JamesOn Curry scored 14 points for the Cowboys while another two other guards, Byron Eaton and Muonelo, chipped in 10 each.

Guard Steffon Wiley led Southern with 15 points, while forward Deforrest Riley-Smith and Holliday each added 14. The Jaguars had only two double-figure scores in their first two games, a 60-point loss to Georgia and a 53-point loss to Wisconsin.
