Prairie View A&M 26, Southern 23 (overtime)

The Panthers got two key rushes from running back Arnell Fontenot: the PVAM running back tied the game with a three-yard run with 18 seconds remaining in regulation and then scored the game-winner on a 14-yard scamper in overtime, as the Prairie View A&M Panthers scored one of the largest upsets in Southern football history, as the Panthers defeated the Jaguars 26-23 in overtime.

The win was the first for the Panthers over the Jaguars since 1988.

The Panthers got 251 yards on the ground led by Kerry Wilson's nine-carry, 76-yard, one touchdown effort. Fontenot finished with 70 yards on 22 carries. Jermaine McGhee had 10 tackles (six solo) and two sacks.

Southern's JC Lewis finished with 16-of-26 passing for 140 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. Kendall Addison had nine carries for 59 yards and a score. Johnathan Malveaux led the Jaguar defense with 12 tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss. DJ Brooks tallied eight stops.
