SOUTHERN'S LEWIS AND ACKLEY RECEIVE SWAC HONORS

Southern University's JC Lewis and Breck Ackley received conference honors for their performances in Southern's thrilling 30-29 victory over the MEAC's Bethune-Cookman College in the 53rd Gateway Classic.

JC took up were '05 left off, completing 63% of his passes going 24 for 38 for 271 yards and four touchdowns, in leading Southern to a come from behind win in Jacksonville, FL. He was named SWAC Offensive Player of the Week for his performance.

Breck led the Southern specials teams doubling up on both the kicking and punting duties for the first time in his career. Ackley went 3 for 3 on PAT's and 1 for 1 in field goals, while averaging 36.7 yards per punt on five punts. He was named SWAC Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance.
