BIRMINGHAM - Southern QB Bryant Lee was named the National Offensive Player of the Week by the Sports Network Monday. Lee, a 6-2, 200-pound junior from Boutte (pronounced boo-TEE), La, completed 25 of 42 passes for a career-high 407 yards with three touchdowns and had 16 carries for 64 yards and three rushing touchdowns in the Jaguars' 52-49 loss to Florida A&M. Lee had touchdown passes of 7, 32, and 76 yards, and had scoring runs of 6, 8, and 2 yards.
It was the second straight game Lee had at least five touchdowns. In a 45-14 win over Texas Southern on Oct. 11, Lee threw for two touchdowns and ran for three others. The 2008 SWAC Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, Lee has completed 152 of 240 passes for 1,939 yards with 16 touchdowns and just 3 interceptions. He has also rushed 102 times for 370 yards and 6 touchdowns. He leads the conference (and ranks 10th in the nation) in passing yards and is fifth in the SWAC in rushing. In addition to the Sports Network honor, Lee was also named this week's SWAC Offensive Player of the Week, as well as the Louisiana Sports Writers Association Offensive Player of the Week. # SWAC #
