JAGUARS FALL TO LADY BULLDOGS

Fedrieka Leiws scored 17 points vs. Alabama A&M.

Feb. 24, 2008

Huntsville, AL - The Southern University women's basketball team fell to the Lady Bulldogs of Alabama A&M University 72-66 on Saturday night.

Southern (10-13, 8-6 SWAC) was led by senior Fredrieka Lewis who scored 17 points. Red-shirt freshman Freda Allen continues her onslaught on the rebounding portion of the SU women's basketball record book with her fourth double double of the year with 12 points and 13 rebounds. This is also her 12th game with double digit rebounds. Junior Diedra Jackson recorded 15 points to round out the double digit scorers.

"It's tournament time," said head coach Sandy Pugh "We have to step up and play with intensity and focus. Standing around, looking, that's for the birds. ... We're sitting in the middle of this junk heap (in the conference standings) and it makes no sense."

Southern will travel to Montgomery, Alabama on Monday, February 25th to try to sweep Alabama State University in their season series. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m.
