Dec. 9, 2005 Baton Rouge, LA -- The Southern University women's basketball team has something to be proud of as senior Ashley Blake graduated today from Southern University. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Therapeutic Recreation. "I'm really excited about getting my degree and accomplishing something I been working on for a long time," said Blake. "It shows that women's basketball at Southern not only cares about winning but also about academics. I'm glad I can represent the team by showing that school comes first." Blake is averaging 6.8 points per game. She also has 24 rebounds, 10 assists, 1 block and 6 steals in five games for the Jaguars. "I'm glad for Ashley, it's an honor she deserves for all her hard work," said head coach Sandy Pugh. Blake has less than 30 hours to complete her second undergraduate degree in Physical Education. She will pursue the degree and enroll in graduate school to pursue a masters in social work. |
