Gregory Corbette graduated from Southern University in 2003 with a degree in Therapeutic Recreation. In 2004 he entered the graduate school for a masters in Public Administration. Corbette is not new to the soccer program. He assisted former head coach Rohan Naraine with the goalies, and forwards by teaching them different techniques and practicing with them. He continues to practice with the young ladies to help their skill levels improve. Corbette has been active in soccer all his life. At the age of 16 he was one of the youngest players to make the All-Port Smouth selective soccer team. They traveled around the Caribbean Island and finished with a record of 14-1-1. In 1994-1995, at the age of 19, Corbette was named the best defensive player in all of Dominic. Unfortunately he was not recruited by any American schools. He was though recruited by a host of colleges and universities in England. His love for the sport went farther then actually competing. Wanting to expand his education, even though he knew he could not play the organize sport here, Corbette chose to attend SU after finding out that they were getting a womens's team. The opportunity to coach is what Corbette wants. He enjoys playing the game but coaching is something that he has always wanted to do. Teaching the skills and techniques is something that he enjoys. He said that if coach Knighten gets the full-time position and offers him the assistant position he will definitely take it. |
