Alcorn State, MS - The Southern University Lady Jaguars soccer team earned their first victory of the season today by defeating the Lady Braves of Alcorn State University 2-0. "I am really proud of ladies for this win," head coach John Knighten said. "They fought hard and it showed." Senior Charmaine Jones scored her first and the game's first goal when fellow senior Leandra Ferguson sent the ball in front of the goal where Jones could put it in. Freshman Jillian Crawely-Foster scored her first collegiate goal at the 34th minute with an assist from senior Almarie Soto-Ortiz. The Lady Jaguars will try to make it two straight when they travel to Itta Bena, MS to take on the Mississippi Valley State University Devilettes on Sunday, October 12th. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m.
