LADY JAGUARS SPLIT WITH A&M



Jamila Taylor finshed the day with 3 hits and 2 runs

Baton Rouge, LA -- The Southern University Lady Jaguars softball team split with the Lady Bulldogs of Alabama A&M University. In game one SU pulled out an 11-1 victory but in game two they dropped their first Southwestern Athletic Conference contest 2-0.

Southern (9-10, 6-1) scored a season high 11 runs in the first game of the double header. They recorded seven hits and five RBI's. Senior Jayme Roberts finished the game 2 of 3 with three runs and one RBI. Sophomore Tiffany Darville completed the game 2 of 3 with three RBI's and one run. Senior Jamila Taylor ended the first game of the SWAC four-game series going 2 of 2 with two runs.

SU put four runs on the board in the first inning, five in the second and two in the fourth to record their third 8-run rule game on the year.

In game two the Lady Jaguars couldn't find the ball as they recorded five hits out of 24 at bats. No one scored until the top of the sixth inning when the Lady Bulldog's ReQuincia Mack knocked in the only runs of the game to take the lead and the win for Alabama A&M.

Leftfielder Tiffany Darville finished the contest with two hits. Taylor, second basemen Denean Woods and short stop Courtney Chappell all completed the contest with a hit.

Games three and four of the SWAC four-game series will take place tomorrow, March 11th with games starting at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. The game will be played at the Lady Jaguar field on the campus of Southern University.
