Baton Rouge, LA - The Southern University Lady Jaguars softball team was swept today by the Cowgirls of McNeese State University 4-1 and 3-2.

Southern (17-13, 6-2 SWAC) was led in game one by Brittany Hymes who finished 2 for 4 at the plate scoring the only run for Southern. Freshman pitcher Brittany Gillenwater struck out seven batters but allowed eight hits and four runs to give the Cowgirls their ninth victory of the season.

In game two it was more of the same as the Blue and Gold was unable to put enough runs on the board. McNeese's pitcher Bethany Stefinsky struck out 10 batters to help keep the Lady Jags at bay. Sophomore Lanaya Jenkins struck out three but gave up five hits and allowed three runs. Sophomore Jasmone Williams ended the game 1 for 3 with one run.

For their next contest SU will travel to Houston, Texas on April 4-5 to take on Texas Southern university in a SWAC West contest.
