April 20, 2006 Baton Rouge, LA - The Southern University Lady Jaguars will entertain the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff Lady Lions on Friday, April 20th at 1:00 and 3:00 pm. The game will be televised live on Cox cable channel 37. "We're excited about the chance to play on television," said head coach Nancy Marshall. "Even with the game on television and our senior day falling Saturday we will still be about business." Southern (20-22, 13-7 SWAC) currently holds a 4-1 record in their last five contests. The Lady Jags defeated conference rival Grambling State University by out-scoring them 50-4 in their four-game series. SU left Grambling with 46 hits, 12 doubles, five triples, and 41 runs batted in. The Blue and Gold pitchers combined for 1.29 ERA with eight strikeouts in 21 innings pitched. Their lone defeat came against the Northwestern State University Lady Demons who held SU to one hit. Senior Jayme Roberts gave up 10 hits and recorded one strikeout in the five inning 0-8 lost. This week-end will mark the final Southwestern Athletic Conference contest for SU and UAPB. While SU plays Southeastern Louisiana on Tuesday in their final home match-up they will use the final two games of the SWAC series to celebrate Senior day which will be held on Saturday, April 22nd. Game time for Saturday will begin at 11:00 am and 1:00 pm. All contests are free and open to the public. |
