Baton Rouge, LA - The Southern University softball team received two post season honors as sophomore Jasmone Williams and Victoria Stewart were named to the 2008 All-Louisiana second team. This is William's second post season honor as she was named to the 2008 All-SWAC first-team. The Carthage, Texas native posted her best numbers in her young collegiate career hitting .342 with 41 hits, 27 runs, nine doubles, four triples and five RBI's. She finished the year ranked tied with teammate Tiffany Darville for 41st in the nation in triples. Freshman Victoria Stewart received her first collegiate honor by being named to the All-Louisiana team. Stewart had an explosive first year hitting .376 with 41 hits, 29 runs, 11 doubles, two triples, six RBI's and 37 RBI's. Stewart ended her first year ranked in the top ten of seven different Southwestern Athletic Conference categories. The Texarkana, Texas native completed her freshman season ranked 63rd in slugging percentage and 98th in batting average in the NCAA's. Nicholls State's Lacey Gros, edged out transfer pitcher Lanaya Jenkins by one vote for Newcomer of the Year.
