Carthenia Clark "Tina", a former graduate assistant ('91 & '92), will be entering her third season as the associate head coach of the Lady Jaguars volleyball team. Clark, a native of Louisiana, attended and participated in both volleyball and track at Zachary High School. She excelled in both sports as a four year letterman and received All-District honors. She also broke a school record in volleyball for most assists in a match and was selected to represent the East at the ALL Star game her senior year. After high school she attended Southern University and played volleyball from 1985-1988. As the setter, a position in which she was well respected, it was regarded that she was one of the top student-athletes during that time. She was a four year captain who played an integral part in leading the Lady Jaguars to their first SWAC title in 1988. The team ended its season with a 31-9 record, the best in the state of Louisiana that year. Clark was also a four year MVP and a four-year All-Southwestern Athletic Conference performer. She is a member of the American Volleyball Coaches Association. As the associate head coach, she will work closely with the setters as well as implementing practice sessions, assisting in recruiting, contracts for opposing teams, coordinating preseason workouts, two-a-days and travel. Clark hopes to assist head coach Nathaniel Denu in putting the Southern University volleyball back in stride! The Zachary native earned her bachelor's degree in 1990 and a master's degree in 1993 both in the field of Mass Communications. She is the proud parent of one son, Mikale. |
