Baton Rouge, LA -- The Southern University volleyball staff will host the 14th Annual Nathaniel Denu Youth Volleyball Camp on Monday, July 16th - Friday, July 20th from 8:00 am-5:00 pm in the Seymour Gymnasium located on the campus of Southern University.

The non-residential camp is opened to both girls and boys 12-18 years of age. The focus of the camp is to facilitate the enhancement of basic volleyball skills in which players will learn the concept of team play in a positive and successful environment. Qualified camp instructors will include collegiate volleyball players and area coaches. There will also be guest speakers to talk on healthy living and esteem building. Each camper will be given a camp T-shirt, instructional booklet, and a certificate of participation. All campers will need to bring knee pads and wear exercise clothing and tennis shoes to each session.

If your team is interested in attending the camp fee with six or more players is $75.00 per camper. Registration fee is $130.00 per individual prior to June 1st, $150.00 between Junes 1st and July 2nd and on site registration will be $175.0 per individual. All checks can be made payable to Nathaniel Denu, P.O. Box 10073 Baton Rouge, LA 70813. Lunch can be purchased at the campus dining hall for $5.25 a day, or campers may bring a bag lunch from home. There is also a Subway located across from the Seymour Gymnasium parking lot. Constant supervision will be provided. Campers will not be allowed off campus except under the supervision of the camp, parent or legal guardian.

Coach Nathaniel Denu is entering his 27th year as head women's volleyball coach here at SU. He will; direct the camp staff and serve as the camp director. Coach Denu is known for developing outstanding volleyball players on the collegiate level. In the last 26 seasons he has led the Lady Jaguars to eight SWAC championships matches winning in 1988, 1993 and 1998. Denu was the first president of the SWAC Volleyball Coaches Association. He is a member of the American Volleyball Coaches Association and he is one of the voters of the ESPN/USA Today Top 25 National Team Ranking.
